Looking for Couture Vintage?

We attended a beautiful little wine tasting at Bowen’s Cafe Expresso along with dinner and a fashion show featuring the most gorgeous couture vintage. Most of the models looked familiar because I think they were all HP sophomores, the same grade as my (handsome, HP football playing) nephew. A few weeks ago, Scot and I had actually stood outside the window of this brand new gem in Snider Plaza, admiring a pair of very old SMU cowboy boots complete with colorful inlay. We couldn’t go in because the store is by appointment only unless you’re lucky enough to cruise by on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday between 11 and 4. Remember that beautiful floral embroidered vintage jacket from Saturday Sun? Well, that was a gift from yours truly, Commonwealth Couture.

Pretty Pastels, Krystal At Hadleigh’s

We ran into Krystal Schlegel at Hadleigh’s in Highland Park Village this weekend and we had to snap a picture of her. Notice her matching pastel Essie nail polish. Gorgeous!

Woman In Red

We always love to run into Hanh Merriman from Life In Travel.  She has an edgy style and knows exactly how to mix labels.

Belted Boots

You can probably imagine my excitement when I discovered these reconstructed vintage western boots wrapped in retro belting from The Feather Junkie. With the unattainable, infinite wait-list for Isabel Marant frontier-girl booties and Magdalena’s coveted Navajo boots she wore off-duty during Paris fashion week, The Feather Junkie boots were an awesome surprise! Just another little treasure I’ve discovered during SMU Fashion Week.

Anna-Sophia, Sunset

Leave it to Anna-Sophia to take an amazing look, styled by our very own ShopTalk’s Raya Ramsey, even one step further. She completely altered the silhouette of the dress by lifting the skirt to show off an infinity of black tulle and one gorgeous leg! I think this should be a permanent alteration.

For The Love Of Clothes

Scot and I were at Highland Park Village when we came across the most impeccably dressed man talking with friends in front of Hadleigh’s. We had to take his picture! The details of the stitching and immaculate craftsmanship of his sport coat alone were worthy of a hundred photos! Turns out he is the owner of Hadleigh’s and one of the most creatively inspirational people we have come across. He and his wife have given Dallas one of the finest selections of custom suiting and lifestyle clothing that’s only seen in major labels such as Tom Ford or Armani. The storefront is filled with new Spring arrivals in delightful blue hues, pastel ginghams, and chambrays. And who doesn’t want a pair of those novelty slippers after seeing Poppy Delevigne sporting her preppy print loafers around Paris?!

Sea Breeze

After reading Margherita Missoni’s beauty secrets I found myself wanting to drink sheep-based dairy products and wear ethereal dresses barefoot along the beach. Granted, I’m not in my twenties or have an Italian countryside sun-kissed complexion, but we can strive, right? So, first things first. I’m revamping my wardrobe and clearing my closet of all those five year old items that have never been worn. I’m investing in a ridiculously distressed pair of jeans to wear with my gorgeous new beachy sequined clutch that so kindly arrived in the mail. And then I’ll get a Tom Ford Carnal Red pedicure so that I can dance around barefoot and beautiful!
